Technical Advice, Guidance and Training

  • audit of adventure activity safety against industry standards

  • International Mountain Leader (IML)
  • Winter Mountaineering & Climbing Instructor (WMCI)
  • Mountain Bike Leader (MBLA)
  • Nordic Level 2 Ski Instructor (BASI)
  • DofE Accredited Assessor (BSG)
  • ITC Level 3 Award in Teaching and Assessing First aid Qualifications (TAFAQ)
  • Level 1 Triathlon Coach
  • Educational Visit Coordinator (EVC) Trainer
  • OCR Level 3 Certificate in Off-Site Safety Management
  • National General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH)
  • Accredited Practitioner of the Institute of Outdoor Learning (APIOL)
  • Outdoor Emergency First Aid

Relevant experience includes:

  • Technical advisor to clients including schools and outdoor activity providers
  • Member of Scottish Adventure Activity Forum (SAAF), member of  Adventure Activity Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC) and Member of Scottish Advisory Panel on Outdoor Education(SAPOE)
  • Local authority Outdoor Education Officer responsible for guidance on off-site excursions, associated school senior management training and outdoor activity technical advice
  • Commercial expedition company Technical Director responsible for technical advice , guidance and training
  • Experience of attaining quality assurances and licences including AALA licences, BS8848, Learning Outside of the Classroom Quality Badge and Duke of Edinburgh Award Accredited Activity Provider
  • Institute of Outdoor Learning (IOL) Accredited Provider of the Institute of Outdoor Learning (APIOL) mentor and assessor
  • Contingency planning in the military working with local authorities and emergency services
  • Army Mountaineering Association Expedition Advisor
