Summer Mountaineering

The Scottish Highlands vary geologically enormously and as a result in rock nature, character and vegetation.  Mountaineering involves ascending by more technical and challenging routes and dealing with variable conditions.

To get the most from mountaineering you will have summer walking experience and we will use basic rock climbing and rope skills to ascend safely.  Perhaps you want to climb some of Scotland’s classic ridges or learn new skills and gain some mountaineering independence.

Topics  will include:

  • selecting appropriate routes
  • suitable equipment
  • approaching scrambles and ridges safely
  • basic rope work
  • belaying and abseiling
  • decision making, moving together and escaping!

I can offer options from instruction and coaching through to guiding all from a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor.  Venues will depend on preferences and weather but can include Glencoe, Lochaber and the Cairngorms working with up to two clients.  Check out prices here.
