Hill Running and Biking

Whether you are a walker looking to travel lighter and faster or already a hill runner, I can help.  With a hill running passion spanning 35 years I have plenty of experience and plenty of successes and failures to share.  I have taken part in 20 mountain marathons (15 x KIMM/OMM), been selected to run for the Scottish Hill Running team and been on the Scottish Hill Running championships podium several times for my age group.

I have also completed the Glencoe Skyline twice, placing 3rd  MV45 in 2015 and 1st in the MV45 in 2016.

Running or biking with lightweight kit in the hills provides access to more adventures in remote places.  But, having the right conditioning – fitness, strength and endurance along with the right kit (not too much of it!) is all essential.

We will also look at conditioning for both performance, injury prevention and recovery as well as techniques for moving over different types of ground.  Route planning, route selection, navigation and judgement skills take time to develop.  It does not always go right and the weather can be fickle so planning and preparation are essential – and so is the ability to get out of the stew and patch yourself up with the minimum of kit!  Don’t forget the confidence needed to do all of this.  Age excuses not accepted, I’m 55, a first aid trainer and triathlon coach, so have a few relevant skills – and I’m still loving it 🙂

8 hours 57 seconds took it's toll!
